Do solar panels work during cloudy days

Solar panels will continue to  produce electricity as long as they are exposed to sunlight. Here’s how they operate during cloudy weather and at night.

Solar panels will continue to generate electricity during cloudy, rainy, or other periods of indirect sunlight, though their efficiency will be minimal. They work best when exposed to sunlight and produce less electricity under cloudy conditions. If your area experiences frequent overcast days, your solar panels may not operate at peak efficiency consistently.

“Even on very cloudy or rainy days, you will still get some electricity,” said Fenton. “However, on extremely cloudy days, you might only get about half as much electricity as on sunny days.”
